Gender-Inclusive Language in Public-Facing Labor and Delivery Web Pages in the New York Tristate Area: Cross-Sectional Study

Gender-Inclusive Language in Public-Facing Labor and Delivery Web Pages in the New York Tristate Area: Cross-Sectional Study

This study aims to evaluate the current prevalence of LGBTQIA+ inclusion and gender-inclusive terminology among labor and delivery (L&D) service web pages in the New York tristate area. The targeted words used to assess gender-inclusiveness for this study were largely adapted from the Jennings et al [25] study of gender-inclusive language on National Health Service websites.

Predictive Modeling of Hypertension-Related Postpartum Readmission: Retrospective Cohort Analysis

Predictive Modeling of Hypertension-Related Postpartum Readmission: Retrospective Cohort Analysis

We analyzed blood pressure records with timestamps and identified the highest systolic blood pressure and associated diastolic blood pressure during 3 time periods, that are, labor, 0-24 hours post partum, and 24-48 hours post partum, because we expected blood pressure during labor and post partum to be important features for predicting hypertensive readmissions.

Comparison of Spontaneous Pushing and Directed Pushing During the Second Stage of Labor Among Chinese Women Without Epidural Analgesia: Protocol for a Noninferior Feasibility Study

Comparison of Spontaneous Pushing and Directed Pushing During the Second Stage of Labor Among Chinese Women Without Epidural Analgesia: Protocol for a Noninferior Feasibility Study

Evidence from a systematic review confirmed that spontaneous pushing did not necessarily lead to a longer duration of the second stage of labor [7]. In addition, women in the spontaneous pushing group are less likely to experience an extended episiotomy and cesarean birth during labor [8]. Meanwhile, in most hospital settings around the world, directing a woman to push during labor is commonly observed [7]. This is usually called “directed pushing.”

The Effects of Virtual Reality in Maternal Delivery: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

The Effects of Virtual Reality in Maternal Delivery: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

The pain of labor is the highest pain level, lasts longer than acute pain, and occurs during all 3 stages of labor (dilation of the uterus, delivery of the fetus, and delivery of the placenta) [1]. Although labor pain occurs naturally, extreme pain can lead to negative physiological changes during labor such as excessive neuroendocrine stress, maternal acidemia, and prolonged labor [2,3]. Therefore, a reasonable reduction in pain intensity and duration, within safe limits, is necessary.

Patient Experience and Satisfaction in Online Reviews of Obstetric Care: Observational Study

In this study, we aim to evaluate how the content of labor and delivery Yelp reviews relates to star rating to provide insight into the labor and delivery experience in the United States. We identified hospitals in the United States that have Yelp reviews using the Yelp Search application programming interface. We included only hospitals listed in the American Hospital Association directory with at least one review.

Development of and Experiences With an Informational Website on Early Labor: Qualitative User Involvement Study

Development of and Experiences With an Informational Website on Early Labor: Qualitative User Involvement Study

The period of regular contractions before 4 cm of cervical dilatation is often referred to as the latent phase or early labor [1]. This period can be considered a time of conflict between women’s perceived need to be cared for and midwives’ determination to prevent them from coming to the hospital earlier than necessary. We favor the term early labor, as women do not consider labor to consist of different phases [2], and it captures the fact that this phase is actually a part of the labor process.

Bioethics in Childbirth Care: Protocol for a Scoping Review

In this context, we used the acronym PCC (population, concept, and context), defined below, to elaborate the research question: P (population): women in labor, delivery, and the postpartum period C (concept): bioethics and health care C (context): childbirth care in the hospital context Thus, the following question was raised: “Do women in labor, delivery, and the postpartum period have their rights ensured, through health care based on bioethics during care?”
